How to Introduce the Steno Connect App
When the Taking Attorney joins the Steno Zoom meeting, please ask them if they have the Steno Connect app installed. If they have not installed the app, please invite them to use it by following the script below:
"I will invite you to use the Steno Connect app in guest mode."
(Invite the Taking Attorney to use the Steno Connect App now.)
"With the app, you can easily upload all your unmarked exhibits at once, so they're ready when it's time to introduce them. Once you present an exhibit, all participants will be able to view the exhibit."
Please Note:
To send Guest Mode invites, you must have the Steno Connect App added to your Zoom account.
The Join Page
Before entering a deposition, participants must complete a Join Page Form, which ensures the correct Zoom permissions are applied.
✔ Required Fields:
- Full legal name
- Email address
- Role: Select ‘Videographer’
After completing the form, two things happen:
- The user joins the Zoom meeting room.
- The Join Page transforms into the Steno Connect Web App.
The Steno Connect Web App
The Steno Connect Web App is a browser-based alternative for users who cannot access the app in Zoom—exhibits marked in the Zoom app sync with the web version in real time.
Reasons why participants may need to use the web app:
- Participants using a mobile device such as a cell phone or tablet
- Participants using a Linux operating system
- Participants joining from the Zoom Web App
- Participants whose security/IT protocols prohibit the use of apps in Zoom
Once you’ve signed in and entered the Zoom room, we recommend keeping the Join Page tab open if you need to use the Steno Connect Web App.
