What is a Back-to-Back (B2B) job?
You may be booked on a series of depositions on the same day that happen consecutively with the same attorneys, same court reporter (usually), and same case, but with multiple witness. In most cases, you will not need to change your setup between depositions. You will need to fill out a separate video worksheet per witness.
What is a Certificate of Non-Appearance (CNA), and what should I do when one is happening as a videographer?
CNAs occur when the witness fails to appear. Typically, counsel will wait approximately 15 minutes beyond the scheduled start time to allow the witness a chance to arrive (please ask them how long they would like to wait). After this period, ask if they would like to proceed with a certificate of non-appearance. If they agree, your subsequent question should be:
"Would you like a video recording of the statement, or would you like to address this directly with the court reporter?"
Please refer to our How to Complete the Steno Video Worksheet page for further info on what to do on the video worksheet for a CNA.
If the witness does not show up or the deposition is canceled on-site, you must call Steno at (888) 404-0390 to inform us of the cancellation.
