How to Use Steno Connect on an iPad

Here is a guide to using Steno Connect on an iPad

  1. Before connecting to the Steno Connect room on the iPad, please ensure you are NOT using Google Chrome. Due to choppy audio being reported on Chrome, we currently recommend using the native browser, Safari.
  2. Once you have joined the Steno Connect room using Safari, if you wish to reduce background noise from your microphone, you will have to use Apple’s built-in noise cancellation feature (Steno Connect’s noise cancellation feature is not supported on iPad).
  3. Before using Apple’s noise cancellation feature, please make sure your device supports noise cancellation by referencing the following list of compatible devices:

  5. For more detailed steps, please attempt the following in order to activate the noise cancellation tool.
    1. Once you're in the room, pull down the Control Center by dragging down diagonally from the top-right corner of the screen.
    2. Tap the Mic Mode button at the top.
    3. Select from Standard, Voice Isolation, and Wide Spectrum. Your chosen microphone mode will now be activated, and you can turn it off at any time simply by accessing the Control Center again and selecting Standard.
