How Do I Annotate An Exhibit?

Steno Connect for Zoom offers powerful annotation tools that allow you to mark up exhibits during depositions with professional precision. This guide will walk you through everything you need to know about annotating exhibits.

IMPORTANTOnly the user presenting the exhibit can annotate it. This means that the user must have the app installed or use guest mode to annotate.

Accessing the Annotation Toolbar

  1. Present an exhibit by clicking the "Present" button next to any marked exhibit
  2. Click the "Annotate" button in the top-right corner of the presentation window

The enhanced annotation toolbar includes these professional markup tools:

Text Tool

Add professional text annotations with complete customization:

  • Text color options for maximum impact
  • Background colors for enhanced visibility
  • Multiple fonts and sizes to choose from
  • Alignment options: Left, Center, Right justification and Top, Middle, Bottom positioning

Drawing Tool

Perfect for freehand sketching and drawing:

  • Fully customizable: Line color, weight, and opacity

Highlight Tool

Emphasize important exhibit content:

  • Customizable: Adjust color, weight, and opacity as needed
  • Freeform highlighting: Draw over any content you want to emphasize

Line & Arrow Tools

Create precise directional indicators:

  • Customizable start and end styles (arrows, dots, etc.)
  • Variable line thickness options
  • Professional dash and line patterns
  • Pro tip: After drawing one line, simply re-select the tool to draw additional lines

Shape Tools

Customizable Options

When selecting any of the annotation icon, the presenting participant will see any the following customization options:

  • Color picker

  • Font Size


  • Alignment Options


  • Opacity selector


  • Weight selector

  • Preview Brush Weight: See your brush settings in the top-right corner before drawing

 

Saving Your Annotation

Undo

 (This can also be done by using the keyboard shortcut CTRL + Z (PC) or + Z (Mac))

    Once an annotation is made, the presenter can select the 'SAVE' button to name the annotated exhibit as any name they like.
